DR. ALYSSA BANKS, PT, DPT

For over a decade Alyssa has been passionately devoted to issues related to women’s health and wellbeing. During physical therapy school she was struck by the lack of resources for women’s health, including general pelvic dysfunction, preconception, pregnancy and postpartum populations. She has since focused her career on bridging this gap.

For the past seven years Alyssa has spearheaded federal pelvic health programs at the Department of Veterans Affairs at both the local and national levels. She personally designed the pelvic floor physical therapy programs for VA hospitals in Washington, D.C. and New Jersey, and has worked on teams designing innovative virtual care and rural pelvic health access programs for the nation’s Veterans. A trusted mentor and expert in pelvic floor physical therapy, Alyssa has advised providers from other disciplines and mentored physical therapists seeking to treat pelvic floor dysfunction.

Alyssa aims to bridge the gap between prevention and rehabilitation and ensure seamless integration of healthy lifestyle habits into everyday life for everyone, even busy and overwhelmed mamas. She has extensive experience with complex conditions including sexual trauma, postpartum and postoperative complications. She has worked with pelvic floor patients of all genders.

Alyssa is a mom of two young children herself and lives with her family in Morris County. She is a strong believer in the importance of accessibility and the power of community in facilitating women’s health and healing (see Our Values below).
